This is our largest fundraiser of the year and it takes everyone doing their part to make it happen. The RBB has a contract with Top Dog to volunteer and earn a percentage of the profit. We need to fill all our shifts, or they will hire their own staff and pay for them out of our profits.
Dates:
Summer - June 23 to July 5th
Winter - December 20th to January 1st
Location: 20432 Northwest Freeway, Houston, TX 77065 (NOT 249 location)
Dress Code: Wear a RBB, Top Dog, or Navy t-shirt; and wear close-toed shoes (no crocs).
Shifts:
A shift is one time slot. For example, 8am to 12pm. If 3 family members work 3 different positions during the same shift this counts for 3 shifts. It is not a current requirement that students and parents work the same shifts.
When you arrive at the store there will be a QR code where you will sign in. When you sign in you will be asked the band members name, this is how we track the number of shifts worked per family. Students will be asked if they want to get credit for Points or Hours.
Points (Jacket Points):
Kids need 16 points to earn a letter jacket. There is a detailed form on the band website, www.tmhsband.com, that explains the letter jacket point system.
Volunteer Hours:
“Hours” are given to kids who are trying to earn service hours for various organizations, such as National Honors Society, or to earn a service hours cord when they graduate.
Double & Triple Point or Hours:
Some shifts will offer double or triple points/hours. If you work 1 shift during a double point shift, you will earn 2 points instead of 1 point. For hours, instead of getting credit for 4 hours (8am to 12:00pm) you will get 8 hours. You will still only get credit for 1 of the 3 shifts every family is asked to fill.
Positions:
Student Worker: Give shopping cart to customer (required by law); Put away carts; Open doors for customers; other jobs as assigned and age appropriate
Cashier: Scan product; accept payment
Bagger: Help customers empty cart for scanning; load scanned product into cart; assist customers as needed
Stocker: Carry boxes from storage units to store and stock shelves; Assist in tracking inventory
Sales: Assist customers to find product; Explain sales/promotions
Parking Attendant: This position requires an adult to fill. The volunteer is asked to keep traffic flowing and assist with parking.
Shuttle:
On the busiest days of the season, we do not park at the store to allow more parking for customers. Instead, we park a little way from the store. A shuttle picks us up and takes us to the store then returns us to our vehicles at the end a shift.
Our second largest fundraiser of the year is concessions and we ask each RBB Faimly to volunteer for at least 1 Concession Shift.
We staff the concession booths for all home games. For the Patriotic Show we staff half and Tomball HS staffs the other half.
Dress Code:
All Volunteers working in the concession stand must wear compliant food service apparel including a school spirit shirt, jeans/pants, enclosed skid-resistant shoes (No Crocs), baseball cap or other hair restraint (hairnet). Shirts must have sleeves and show no midriff, and pants must fall below the knee. A food handler's certificate is required for everyone that volunteers in concessions. Our Concessions Coordinator, Cydney Hudspeth, will be forwarding more information to you soon.
Positions:
All positions are trained and explained in more detail upon arriving for you shift. We work the entire game and are given breaks as needed by other RBB parents.
Cashier: Take orders; Accept payment; Deliver orders
Runner: Assists Cashiers with getting order and delivered to the customer
Back of House: Works closely with TISD employee to prepare the food
For each of our football games and contests we need adults to assist our PIT with getting their instruments on and off the field. These volunteers will meet at a designated place and be given their student and instrument assignment. For games they usually gather near the 2nd quarter of the game.
You will pick up uniforms from the RBB uniform officers at the highschool. If you don’t know where the uniform room is ask your student or ask anyone to point you in that direction. It is in the hallway outside the band hall and to your right. You will be given a set of uniforms, usually 12-16. The uniform officers and Mr. Brown will give instruction on how to wash the uniforms. You will also be given a list of parts of the uniform and who they belong to, so that they can come back to the school together. (This will make sense when you see it.)
Volunteering is essential to the success of our program. The Booster Club spends a significant amount of money each year to support everything from marching shows and scholarships to bringing in expert clinicians. The majority of this funding comes from fireworks and concessions—fundraisers that rely heavily on parent and community involvement. When these events succeed, they help reduce the financial burden on every family. However, if we fall short of our budget goals, it will significantly impact what we can offer next year. Your time and effort directly support our students' opportunities—every hour matters.
